PSYC 375 - Community Psychology 3 Credit Hours 3 Lecture Hours 0 Laboratory Hours
A survey of the theories, principles and concepts of community psychology including the classic and contemporary models of mental illness prevention and intervention as well as political and grassroots advocacy models of community wellness. Examines successful practical programs applying the principles of community psychology and reviews the research evaluating the development and effectiveness of community psychology applications. This course has a service-learning component that will include a community-based project which requires a 30-hour commitment which may be required outside of class time.
Prerequisites: Junior standing or permission of instructor.
