HIST 271 - History of Warfare

3 Credit Hours
3 Lecture Hours
0 Laboratory Hours

This class will not cover every war; instead, you will study detailed examples of battles and campaigns from a variety of places and times in order to understand three main issues: What strategies and tactics have contributed to successful warfare? How have societal developments (such as ethics, technology, etc.) shaped warfare? How has the experience of warfare impacted individual participants? It will also help you develop the skills that historians use: working with primary source evidence, researching previous scholarship, and constructing interpretive arguments.

Prerequisites: COMP 131 .
