PSYC 375 - Community Psychology

A survey of the theories, principles and concepts of community psychology including the classic and contemporary models of mental illness prevention and intervention as well as political and grassroots advocacy models of community wellness. Examines successful practical programs applying the principles of community psychology and reviews the research evaluating the development and effectiveness of community psychology applications. This course also has a service learning component of community service via service days and a specialized 30 hour practicum selected by the student from local agencies and facilities.

Prerequisites: Junior standing or permission of instructor.
