ATHL 573 - Acute Care in Athletic Training 3 Credit Hours 3 Lecture Hours 0 Laboratory Hours
A graduate level course that is an introduction to principles of emergency care across a variety of settings. Students will be expected to clinically evaluate and manage a patient with an emergency injury or condition to include the assessment of vital signs and level of consciousness, activation of emergency action plan, secondary assessment, diagnosis, and provision of the appropriate emergency care (e.g., CPR, AED, supplemental oxygen, airway adjunct, splinting, spinal stabilization, control of bleeding).
Prerequisites: Acceptance to the Professional Phase of the Athletic Training Program.
